All of this era-to-era cock measuring gets really old.

Well, I obviously get something out of them too or else I wouldn't be here.

My point is, as someone who has found something to like in most every year, I have a hard time understanding why people have developed such combative positions about this or that era. I just don't understand the reason for all the trash talk. To me it just seems like so much schoolyard bullshit.

"To me it just seems like so much schoolyard bullshit."

How right you are!

When I first started participating at this forum, I used to be offended by the behavior of trolls like smi2les. I thought that since LMA was a serious "Library of Grateful Dead Resources" that its forum should be for relevent music discussion only. I used get quite disapointed when Direwolf, SDH or Robthewordsmith hijacked interesting music threads with salutations and diverted serious discussions with idle chit-chat. But over the years I have come to the conclusion that this forum is nothing more than a playground for Deadheads.

"I have a hard time understanding why people have developed such combative positions about this or that era..."

It's quite simple! It's quite fun pushing the buttons of the folks like you and billydillions, and the other fervent defenders of the 80's and 90's, who get so hot and bothered when someone is critical of the later years.

Yeah, doesn't it suck when you can't control people and make them do what you think they should do.

"But over the years I have come to the conclusion that this forum is nothing more than a playground for Deadheads."

Really Cliff? This took you years to figure out? I must admit that I gave you more credit.

Life's tough Cliff, it's even tougher when you're stupid.

That's obvious, Cliff. Pushing other people's buttons -- what a truly noble endeavor. Congrats. You must be lots of fun at parties.

That's an admission of troll behavior. Is it not?

Idle chat is easier to take than abrasive argument for arguments sake.

Boy the weather is nice today. I love the smell of burnt troll in the morning.

The sound of a hammer hitting the nail right on the head.

It is ironic that the some of 'troll accusers' on this board subsequently turn out to be the biggest trolls of all.

Mentioning no names at all.

also agree, but gotta admit there is some genuine creative thinking going on in this thread;

(((appreciation is subjective so you must be missing half your brain if you appreciate something i don't appreciate)))

too funny!

That's probably because you're as half baked as I be (drug-free, mind you), and you were just watching to see how long it took Rob to critique my "creative" use of the verb "borned"...but, having just happened upon Deliverance, the movie, late at night the other day, it just sorta seemed appropos, to use a hooty-potatooy word...
